Mission Letter from the Founder

Keith M. Pope, Founder – The Dream Rebuilders Incorporated

Dear Friends,

I write this letter with both a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit. We are living in a moment where the promises of America are being tested, and too often, broken. Every day I see the pain in our communities — and every day I remind myself that silence is no longer an option.

We are watching an administration steer our country toward division instead of unity, prioritizing power and control over people’s lives. Policies meant to protect all of us are being rolled back, and the voices of everyday people are pushed further into the margins. The truth is, America was built for the people and by the people — but it will only stay that way if the people rise to defend it.

Look at our youth. In neighborhoods across this country, especially in Black and Brown communities, our children are growing up surrounded by gun violence. They are not just losing friends and classmates — they are losing their childhoods. Too many mothers are burying their sons, too many fathers are standing graveside instead of sideline. Gun violence has become an epidemic, and yet those in power offer “thoughts and prayers” while refusing to act.

Look at our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. They continue to be targeted by hate — not just with words, but with laws designed to erase their dignity. They are judged and shamed by people who have no right to judge anyone. We forget that our greatest commandment is to love one another, yet we live in a society that spends more time tearing people down than lifting them up.

Look at our working families. Wages stay low while the cost of living rises. Parents work two or three jobs and still cannot afford decent housing or healthcare. Young people graduate with mountains of debt and nowhere to turn for opportunity. Our democracy feels fragile, our people feel abandoned, and our communities are struggling to survive.

But I believe this moment — as painful as it is — is also our turning point.

That is why I am building The Dream Rebuilders Incorporated. This is not just another nonprofit. This is a movement — a call to action — a declaration that the Dream Dr. King spoke of cannot die in our lifetime. It must be rebuilt, brick by brick, heart by heart, action by action.

Our mission is clear:

  • To empower our youth with leadership, mentorship, and opportunity.

  • To fight for justice, equality, and dignity in every corner of this country.

  • To protect civic engagement, voting rights, and the voice of the people.

  • To build safer, stronger, and more united communities.

But here is the truth: I cannot do this alone. No movement in history has ever been the work of one person. It has always been the collective — people who cared enough to say “Not on my watch.”

I am asking you to be part of this movement. Whether by joining The Dream Rebuilders, supporting the NAACP, the National Action Network, or any organization that stands for justice — what matters most is that you get involved. Because every day we stay silent, injustice grows louder.

The time for waiting is over. The time for excuses is over. Our children are watching. Our future is waiting.

Dr. King once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Well, today I declare: I will not be silent. And I am asking you to stand with me, with us, with the Dream — so that together we can rebuild what has been broken and hand a future of hope, peace, and opportunity to the next generation.

Let’s rebuild the Dream. Let’s rebuild America. Let’s rebuild ourselves.

With faith and determination,

Keith M. Pope
